Dear Friend,
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently started a powerful new political group to push for immigration reform, but I never could have imagined that one of its first acts would be to spend over $1 million on advertisements attacking the environment. It’s part of a cynical strategy to support issues conservative lawmakers care about in hopes that they’ll support immigration reform in return.
Facebook crossed a line. But, here’s the thing: Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook care a lot about their image, especially because most of the people bankrolling this new political group are pro-environment. If thousands of us blow this story up by signing and sharing this petition on Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg will be forced to back off the ads or face huge funder and community backlash.
Hurting the environment disproportionately affects Latino and immigrant communities. This isn’t the way to get immigration reform done. And it’s time to let Facebook know--by blasting this petition all over Facebook itself. Can you add your name and share?
