There is so little polarization in this very diverse Occupy Wall Street group. The Unions! Police. Students. Teachers. Elders. The 99%. All in the same boat. Really amazes me.
The history of protest and change in this country has been marked by clear class divisions, which prevented any truly populist mass movement from arising.
Now all that's changed. Nearly everyone in the USA has been royally screwed past few years. The shared pain and anxiety of livin' in the USA is a powerful bond.
The faux Tea Party revolution is powered by big money. There was always something really inauthentic to me about the Tea Party: seniors dressed like Revolutionary War figures waving yellow snake flags (Revolutionary War Navy Jack) demanding the government take away their entitlements. Mmmmm.
In contrast the Occupy Wall Street movement is powered by connectivity, creativity, and genuine shared passion and compassion.
Corporations and law enforcement can easily penetrate open organizations, however, and work to destroy or manipulate the movement.
Beware the cute charismatic figure who jumps on the platform with a clear agenda. Could be deep cover in skinny jeans:)
