Dr. Jill Stein: Time to end the politics of fear and replace it with the politics of courage
Dr. Jill Stein and Cheri Honkola discussing real issues with Amy Goodman (who was actually cordial to her unlike Jennifer Granholm) on Democracy Now! prior to receiving the nomination of the Green Party for president. She speaks of a Green New Deal, poverty, unemployment, foreclosures, student debt, Wall Street, Medicare for all, climate change, Citizens United and other real issues not discussed by the moneyed status quo candidates in this campaign whose only focus is money, ego, mudslinging, winning at any cost and making you afraid of speaking your mind and working for that real change.I like what Dr. Stein proposes (especially the Green New Deal which is modeled on FDR's New Deal) and I know it is achievable. And while she may well not have any chance of winning this election it is way past time for Americans to get up out of their chairs and let their voices be heard. She is exactly right about the Poltics of Fear and the need to now bring a new era of the Politics of Courage. We need inspiration, excitement, courage, boldness and action. We need to know our votes truly matter and that the person we are voting FOR truly has our best interests at heart. The status quo does not as we have seen time and time again. We all know it, but we continue to live in fear of really doing something about it. Change will never come if we continue to make excuses for why we say we should move while remaining motionless. It is also blatantly undemocratc to not allow others in our country running for the highest office to not be heard in debates (whether we agree with them or not) especially if they are focusing on the issues that truly matter to all Americans instead of the status quo soundbites. Not only this country but humanity as a whole is at a crossroads. We need leaders willing to take this on not only fron a political standpoint but a moral one. Change will come, but only if we make it happen. I say, if not now, when? Dr. Stein has my vote.
