Halo 4 Coming Holiday 2012 as the Start of a New Trilogy

After being leaked by Xbox.com earlier today, Microsoft made the news official at its media briefing this morning: Halo 4 is coming and it's the start of a new trilogy.

A brief video was shown at the end with Cortana shouting to wake up the Master Chief from his slumber. As she shouts, "Wake up, John!" he jumps out of his stasis pod only to see the ship he's on exploding. He grabs hold of a pistol and shows off a jetpack-like device on his back as the ship heads toward an enormous... thing.

We're not sure exactly what it was and there wasn't much to be seen from the short video. Nothing more was said about the trilogy, but Halo 4 will be coming during the holiday season, 2012.
